Chennai, Dec 6: The body of Tamil Nadu chief Minster who passed away today will be kept at the Rajaji Hall in Chennai for the people to pay their last respects. A state mourning of seven days has been declared in Tamil Nadu. Jayalalithaa passed away at the Apollo hospital at 11.30 PM today after she had suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday.
Incidentally this is the same Hall where the body of former Chief Minister of the state, M G Ramachandran was kept. All arrangements are being made for the funeral and the body will be kept at a distance of 30 feet away from the people. Barricades have already been set up at the venue.
Preparations are underway for the funeral. The entire state would be in mourning and schools and colleges have already declared three days of holidays. There is heavy security across the state with scores of police personnel guarding important locations.
Meanwhile O Paneerselvam is all set to take over as the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu. He will be sworn in as the chief minister shortly. Earlier during the day a majority of the AIADMK had voted in favour of O Paneerselvam taking over as the chief minister of the party.
