Chennai, Nov 5: Within hours after Apollo Hospitals in Chennai informed that J Jayalalithaa has completely recovered, media reports say five alleged rumour-mongers arrested for spreading "lies" about the chief minister's health got bail on Friday.
The Madras High Court granted bail to five persons, who were all arrested last month.
The court directed each of them to furnish a personal bond of Rs 10,000 with two sureties, to the satisfaction of the magistrates concerned to secure the bail and get released.
So far, a total of eight persons were arrested on the charge of spreading rumours about the health of Jayalalithaa.
Moreover, around 50 cases have been registered by the Chennai Police against alleged rumour-mongers in the last 40 days.
Earlier, the police had warned of stern action against people who spread wrong information about Amma's health.
Ever since Jayalalithaa has been admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Greams Road, her health has been subject to countless rumours, speculation and even fake pictures spread through social media.
She is undergoing treatment at the hospital since September 22.
The hospitals authorities have indicated that the chief minister would be soon discharged from the hospital to go back to her home.
