Jayalalithaa
New Delhi, Oct 9: Jayalalithaa is expected to move the Supreme Court as Karnataka High Court refused to grant her bail. But the AIADMK supremo may not get even if she moves the apex court.

Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, who represented Jayalalithaa in Karnataka High Court, had claimed that she must be granted bail over her deteriorating health condition inside Parappana Agrahara jail in Bangalore.

One defence lawyer on Oct 7 was quoted as saying, "Jethmalani sought immediate bail for Jayalalithaa on health grounds, as she has diabetes, low blood pressure, acute back pain and is aged."

It was believed that team Jayalalithaa might present the same scenario in Supreme Court while seeking bail for Amma (Jayalalithaa is popularly known as Amma). But Jayalalithaa's lawyer in the apex court may find it difficulty to get her bail if he stresses on her health ground.

Jayalalithaa's blood pressure and sugar levels are normal: Police officer

Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) KV Gagandeep from Parappana Agrahara jail on Oct 8 informed that Jayalalithaa's health condition is "as usual good". He was quoted as saying, "her blood pressure and sugar levels are normal."

He also dismissed reports that she had collapsed in the chair after knowing about rejection of her bail. "There is no truth in it," he asserted.

The Court on Oct 7 had rejected her bail plea, saying there "are no grounds" to give relief to the former Tamil Nadu chief minister and observed that corruption amounts to "violation of human rights".

Meanwhile, DIG (Prisons) M Jaisimha told reporters that Jayalalithaa is eating simple food as per doctor's advice, besides reading newspapers.

Jayalalithaa and her three aides have been convicted in 18-year-old case of Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case. All of them have been sentenced 4-year-jail. They have been lodged in Bangalore since Sept 27. Jayalalithaa also has been imposed a fine of Rs 100 crore.

Other three convicts, the companions of Jayalalithaa, are -- her close aide Sasikala, Jayalalithaa's now disowned foster-son VN Sudhakaran and Sasikala's sister-in-law Ilavarasi.
