Jawan's father says surgical strikes will be tribute for son

Sambhal, Oct 17: The father of Sepoy Sudhesh Kumar, who was killed in firing by Pakistani troops along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, wants more surgical strikes for ending terrorism, saying it will be a true tribute to his son.

Brahmpal Singh, a farmer by profession and native of Pansukha Milak village here, said Sudhesh sacrificed his life for the nation and he was proud of his son.

"The country should go in for more surgical strikes to end terror...It will be the true homage to my son," Brahmpal said.

The 24-year-old was the youngest among his five siblings and had joined army four years ago. He got married three years ago and and has a four-month-old daughter.

Sudesh, hailing from Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, was killed when Pakistani Army started indiscriminate and unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district sector yesterday.

In the primary and secondary schools of the village where Sudhesh had studied, young children paid tributes to him and raised slogans.

A village youth Nirdosh Kumar said the village has a long tradition of sending jawans in the armed forces and at present some 50 to 60 youth from here are serving the country.

There are at least 50 more who are preparing to join the army and they have resolved to work harder, he said. Meanwhile, ADM Sambhal Rajendra Yadav said the martyr's body was likely to reach here by evening and all preparations are on to perform the last rites with full state honours.
