Jammu and Kashmir assembly condemns Swamy's remarks on mosques, demands apology
Jammu, March 18: The Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly on Wednesday unanimously condemned BJP leader Subramanian Swamy's remarks when he reportedly said mosques are not religious places, but just buildings.
As the day's proceedings started, Congress legislator G.M. Saroori demanded unanimous condemnation of the statement.
An independent MLA, Engineer Rashid raised the issue of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's mortal remains.
He said that if Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), a Sikh body, can erect a memorial in the name of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale and call General Vaidya "a murderer" because he commanded Operation Blue Star against the Sikh separatist leader, why can't Kashmiris get the remains of parliament attack convict.
