New Delhi, Oct 30: Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Najeeb Jung on Friday accused the Delhi government of "insisting" he withdraw criminal cases against AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

A statement from the L-G office rubbished the government's allegation of considering former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala's parole.

LG accuses AAP Govt of pressurising him

The statement alleged the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government had mounted pressure on Jung to withdraw 24 criminal cases registered against its leaders, including Kejriwal.

"On September 11, Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain brought a file containing the details of criminal cases pending against the Delhi chief minister and other senior AAP leaders," the statement read.

According to statement, "Jain asked Jung to clear the file by withdrawing 24 cases against AAP leaders which are pending in various Delhi courts".

A fresh file was received from Delhi chief minister's office on Wednesday evening with notes of Kejriwal and Jain which alleged Jung for pressurising the home minister to consider the parole of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader, Chautala.

Chautala is currently behind bars in Tihar Jail here after being convicted in a case relating to teachers' recruitment in Haryana.

"(The) Delhi government is lying about mounting pressure on its minister (Satyendra Jain) regarding considering Chautala parole," LG office said.

"(The) Delhi government is trying to work beyond their constitutional framework. They are trying to politicize the matter and the allegation is purely a figment of imagination," the L-G office said.
