Development is my agenda, says NC provincial president

Saying development forms core of his agenda for Nagrota, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Thursday spelled out his priorities for realising the goal of transforming it as a model constituency with modular facilities.

"Transforming Nagrota into Nava Jammu is a collective vision of the residents of this constituency and the day is not far when it will become a reality", Rana said while addressing a huge gathering at Jandyal.

He said the people's commitment to a cause has unnerved the opponents who find themselves agenda-less and as a consequence resort to inciting passions by indulging in hollow sloganeering. "In fact, they never ever had any agenda for Nagrota and the past twelve years in particular have gone waste", Mr Rana said.

The Provincial President, who is National Conference candidate for the constituency, said that his mission to transform Nagrota is getting strengthened each passing day with people of the area reposing their immense faith in him.

He said he has endeavoured in his own humble way during the past seven years to put the constituency on fast track development and the results are before the people. "In fact, the people of the area have become his companions in the developmental odyssey, which has seen the constituency traversing on the path of progress and development", he maintained.

Rana exuded confidence about the success of his Mission Nagrota and said the developed constituency will pave way for establishing a satellite township with lot of opportunities for the people believing in faster expansion of the Jammu city. He said Nagrota is destined to become hub of economic and commercial activity in the years to come and urged the people to prepare themselves for the big challenge. He said National Conference government will ensure that this area gets its due in a time bound manner.

Referring to the commitment of National Conference to empowerment of women and creating avenues of job opportunities for educated unemployed and skilled workforce, Mr Rana said several initiatives have already been taken which have opened up vistas of opportunities for the targeted segments.

In context of employment generation, Mr Rana said that the innovative programmes undertaken by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah like Himayat and Udaan have immense potential for the young people of Nagrota who are second to none in talent. He also referred to various schemes launched for women empowerment, especially giving them due representation in grass roots level democratic institutions to ensure their greater role in decision making.

Rana urged the people to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for steering Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to pinnacles of progress and development.

Among others present on the occasion included Block President Sham Lal Sharma, ex-MLC Haji Mohammad Hussain, Ch. Arshad, Sarpanch Balbir Singh, Sarpanch Anwar Khan, Sarpanch Mumtaz Ahmad, Sarpanch Sudershan Singh , Sarpanch Ravinder Singh Peter, ex-Sarpanch Sain Khan , Vijay Lochan, Janak Singh, Rohit Bali, Subash Sharma, Niab Sarpanch Rampal, Zorawar Singh, Panch Raj Pal Sharma, Tejpal Singh, Sonu Singh, Ch. BJP, NC, Congress did sins upon the people of Nagrota Constituency: BSP

Bahujan Samaj Party State Gen. Sec & Candidate Nagrota Assembly Constituency Rakesh Wazir while addressing a series of public meetings at Kah,Palli,Bhagani etc falling under Nagrota Constituency lambasted at NC,Congress.

He said that the parties which are running this government and at BJP who represented this Constituncy for inflicting the sins upon the poor people of Nagrota Constituency particularly of Jagti,Dhammmi,Nandni, Suketar,Jhajjar Kotli etc whose lands came under National Highway, for providing them compensation as low as that even if they get the land free of cost in the same area the registration fee and stamp duty for getting those lands registered into their names would be higher under the existing laws.

It is further more surprising that on the contrary the people living across the Banihal Tunnel in Kashmir Area got the compensation of the similar lands 25 times higher than these areas.

He said that although the compensation was to be made the central Govt. and the State government had merely have to tell and recommend the rates of the lands to be paid and the rates so recommended and compensation paid over here in most of the areas was Rs.60,000 per kanal to 1.00 Lac per kanal, where as for the similar lands the compensation given in the Kashmir ranged between 12.00 Lac to 15.00 Lac per Kanal.

The leaders who were there at helm of affairs then acted as muted spectators and never spoke a word or even protested against this day light discrimination with the poor and rather helped the National Highway Authorities in early dislocating the people and getting immediately the said lands vacated from them and in making in no time the poor public landless and jobless by them.

They are now trying to pose that they are the biggest well wishers of these people. These poor people are on the roads now and unable to get the land even free because more than the got compensation had to be paid by them even for getting the land registered in their names as per law.

He assured the people that every effort would be made by him to increase that compensation, not less than whatever compensation had been paid in Kashmir area, if he gets the public mandate.

He said that BJP, NC and Congress leaders did nothing else except making false claims and the promises and now an impression is being given to the people that they did wonders for the public of the constituency.

Now the people will teach them lesson in these elections for all these sins upon them.

The meetings among others were addressed by Gardhari Lal, Cpat. Shiv Lal Dhingra, Subash Thappa, Shallu Ram, Munshi Ram Etc.
