New Delhi, Dec 9: Is this a fish market? I have one week left in the Supreme Court and I will be leaving with a heavy heart, Chief Justice of India, T S Thakur said while reacting to the chaotic scenes in the court hall.
Advocates who were part of the hearing on the demonetisation matter shouted over each other just to be heard by the Chief Justice.
Visibly upset by the chaotic scenes in the court room, the CJI said that in his entire career he had never witnessed such scenes. I am upset and with a week to go for my retirement, I will be leaving with a heavy heart, he also said. This is the court of the CJI and there is no decorum, Justice Thakur also said.
The court was hearing a batch of petitions on demonetisation. The court said that it would be posting the matter to January and if the need be it could be heard by a five judge bench. The centre contended before the court that the decision on demonetisation was taken to fight black money.
