Nagpur, July 30: This is nothing but an irony. The man, who was born on July 30, 1962, has been hanged on the same day in 2015.
Yakub Memon, the convict of 1993 serial Bombay blasts, was hanged to death at Nagpur jail on Thursday, July 30. Today he turned 53-year-old.
Yakub Memon, brother of one of the main conspirators of 1993 blasts, was the sole death row convict in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
12 coordinated blasts had rocked Mumbai on March 12, 1993, leaving 257 dead and over 700 injured.
Yakub's lawyer exhausted all options to save Yakub at the last moment. He moved the Supreme Court late night on Wednesday.
However, the apex court rejected the last minute plea filed by Yakub's lawyer saying, "ample time was given to the person to prepare himself for the day".
