Scores of north-bound trains are getting delayed for several hours because of dense fog situation.

IRCTC, a railway subsidiary, is taking all efforts to provide meals to the passengers, if the journey is extended by more than two hours.

However, the free catering service is being provided on trains during the journey and the facility is not extended at platforms, a senior IRCTC official said.

He said passengers will be served tea/coffee, lunch/dinner or breakfast/evening tea, depending on the timings.

Delhi witnessed dense fog in the morning Wednesday that delayed at least 65 trains and led to the cancellation of four others.

An official of the Northern Railway said at least 57 trains coming to the city were running late, while eight trains departing from the national capital were rescheduled due to dense fog. Four trains have been cancelled, the official added.

Icy winds accompanied with dense fog threw normal life out of gear in desert state of Rajasthan where rail and road services were hit as at least 28 trains were running behind the schedule.

A NWR spokesperson said that 28 trains have been running late in the state from 20 minutes to 15 hours. Six trains were rescheduled, one Sriganganagar-Jammu Tawi train was cancelled and two trains were partially cancelled on Delhi Sarai-Bikaner section.
