Mumbai, Nov 26: Aamir Khan and his family members have been going through a rough phase as the entire nation was busy criticising them ever since the actor made a statement on "intolerance" on Sunday, Nov 22.
Aamir was not alone, critics even dragged his wife Kiran Rao into the controversy as the actor had mentioned her name in his statement on alleged "growing intolerance" in the country.
Now, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stooped to a new low while criticising Kiran Rao. BJP MLA from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, shocked everyone with his statement on Mrs Khan.
The MLA, while slamming Kiran Rao, was quoted as saying, "Perhaps Aamir's wife Kiran Rao wants to be strip-searched in an airport in America."
The BJP MLA was referring to the incidents in which air travellers, including women passengers, are forced to undergo strip-searched in airports to check if anyone is hiding any illegal substances.
Aamir and Kiran have been facing stern criticism as the actor said, "When I chat with Kiran at home, she says, ‘Should we move out of India?' That's a disastrous and a big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day."
"There is this sense of growing disquiet. There is growing despondency apart from alarm. You feel why this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me," he had added.
