The intention was to commit a crime at a high place, the judge at a Delhi court said while extending the custody of Sukesh Chandrasekhar, an accused in the Election Commission bribery case. The judge, Poonam Chaudhary, however had harsh words for the Delhi police and even asked why T T V Dinakaran touted as the prime accused had not been arrested.

The Delhi police after several days of questioning arrested Dinakaran late Tuesday night. When Sukesh was produced before the court on Tuesday, Dinakaran had not been arrested as yet. Sukesh told the court that the police had not arrested Dinakaran despite him being the prime accused in the case.

What is the position of the main accused, the court asked the police. What action has been taken against Dinakaran. The police then went on to explain that the probe was at a crucial stage and once certain things are clear the arrest would be carried out.

The court while extending custody of Sukesh for another five days said that, "the intention was to commit the crime at a high place and the investigation officer may need some time to collect more evidence. There are adequate grounds for extending police custody as the allegations are grave in nature as the conspiracy was to undermine the sanctity of the electoral process through corrupt means," the judge also said.
