Chennai, Dec 22: In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old man stabbed to death his 23-year-old wife inside Tambaram-all women police station on Monday, Dec 21 evening.
According to TOI report, the police had called the couple-- Ganapathy and G Gowri for interrogation, in a complaint case filed by the latter.
The police believe that the murder was premeditated as the accused had brought a screw-driver along-with him to the police station.
They both had arrived separately. When Ganapathy saw Gowri coming inside the police station, he stabbed her on chest and neck. Ganapathy tried to escape, but he was arrested by the police.
The profusely bleeding Gowri was taken to Chromepet Government Hospital by the police officials, but she was declared brought dead.
The crime took place as Ganapathy suspected his wife of infidelity. Last Friday, Ganapathy had asked his wife to stay over at her mother's house in MGR Nagar in Selaiyu, as he had to leave for Sabarimala pilgrimage.
But when he got to know that she didn't stay with her mother and was staying with a man, with whom she had an extramarital affair, he cancelled his pilgrimage plan and returned to kill his wife.
The duo had a heated argument, after which Ganapathy took both sons to his place.
Gowri then filed a police complaint to secure the custody of her sons.
The couple who was working as sanitation workers with the Tambaram municipality, got married eight years ago.
They were living at Anna Street, Annai Sathya Nagar, near Agaramthen in Selaiyur and have two sons.
