Ineffective governance forces youth to hurl shoe at Bihar CM Manjhi
Patna, Jan 5: A youth on Monday hurled a shoe at Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi during his public interaction programme 'Janata Durbar.' However, the shoe did not hit the Chief Minister.
Police has detained the youth and has identified him as Amitesh from Chhapra region. He allegedly accused the Bihar CM of promoting caste politics. He is presently being interrogated.
The 'Janta Darbar' was started by Mr Manjhi's predecessor and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar a few years ago. [Shoe-throwing 'hall of fame' list gets bigger]
According to reports, Amitesh said that Manjhi is encouraging casteism through his statements in the states. He also said that the 'janta durbar' is a farce and nothing happens here.
‘Janata Darbar' is held every week at CM's residence where the Chief Minister meets common man to listen to their grievances every Monday.
As per the Hindu report, when the security personnel present at the spot took the youth away, he was heard as shouting: "please kill me..I don't want to live now..I'm fed up with the system and this farce of the Janata Durbar".
"Only grievance letters and papers are being collected here but noone bothers to take action on them. I've been visiting here for the last two years but noone takes care of his grievances", he was quoted as saying in the daily.
