Indian techie killed in Australia: Mother-daughter meeting remains a dream for 9-year-old

Bengaluru, March 16: Meeting with her mother Prabha Arun Kumar remains a dream for 9-year-old Meghana. The young girl was to fly to Australia to meet her mother after six long months.

Meghana was on cloud 9 when her father had informed about their trip to Sydney where Prabha was working with a software company MindTree. She was planning for the trip which was scheduled for March end.


However, fate had something else in store for her. While she was busy in preparing for the trip, her father suddenly left for Australia without divulging any details.

Soon other members of her family broke the most horrible news that her mother was stabbed to death by unidentified person(s). Within hours, Meghana saw her mother lying in front of her in their house in Bengaluru.

Last rites of Prabha

A relative has been quoted as saying, "The girl was confused in her reaction after learning that her mother was no more. None in the family knew how to console her and manage the situation. We don't know how Meghana can cope with the loss."

Meghana did not talk to anyone and stood by her mother's body looking closely at her mother's face. Relatives and family friends were in tears when when Meghana lit the incense sticks offered by her father.

What happened in Australia:

41-year-old Prabha, a techie working with MindTree, was stabbed to death in Sydney on Saturday, March 7. During investigation, Prabha's roommate -- Sarada revealed that she had warned Prabha of not coming alone on the road where she has been killed. [Roommate had warned Prabha about threat]

Australian police released the CCTV footage in which Prabha was seen walking from a train station just before she was fatally stabbed. The cops appealed to people for information to crack the baffling case.
