Indian Railways modifies rules, no refund for non-travellers
New Delhi, Feb 26: Indian Railway informed on Wednesday that passengers not turning up or less number of persons travelling in groups will not be refunded from March 1.

Central Railway senior divisional commercial manager (SrDCM) Dr Sumant Deulkar said that Railway Board has issued a circular to all general managers in the country, intimating them to implement the decision from March 1.

However, refund will be granted for reserved and RAC tickets in cases of lower class travel, failure of AC in coach, discontinuation of journey by passengers due to dislocation of train services, accommodation not provided and cancellation of trains. For waiting list tickets, refund will not be granted under this system but will continue to be granted as per existing rules.

Earlier, one could get 50% of the fare refunded if the ticket was presented for cancellation up to two hours after the actual departure of the train irrespective of distance.
