New Delhi, Sept 20: Dealing a hard blow, the Indian army has killed 10 out of 15 terrorists who were trying to infiltrate to India from Pakistan. The operation was carried out on Tuesday afternoon at Lachipura area in the Uri sector by the Indian army. The search for the remaining five is still on.
The operation comes just two days after terrorists attacked the army base at Uri in which 4 terrorists were killed and 18 jawans martyred. Earlier in the day Pakistan opened fire at the Indian posts along the Line of Control in Uri.
Intelligence Bureau officials had said that there have been a high number of infiltrations. Following the Uri attack on Sunday, it was reported that several more terrorists will be looking to infiltrate into India.
The army and intelligence have been coordinating to flush out militants from the Valley who have infiltrated since the unrest began on July 9 a day after the killing of Burhan Wani.
Earlier today a team of the National Investigation Agency filed an FIR in connection with the Uri attack. The NIA has been collecting DNA samples of the dead terrorists.
In addition to this the GPS set used by the terrorists will be sent to the United States of America for forensic examination. This would help ascertain the route taken by the terrorists.
India on Monday decided that it would isolate Pakistan internationally. As a first step India would through its External Affairs Minister make a strong statement at the UNGA on September 26.
