New Delhi, Jan 1: India and Pakistan Wednesday exchanged lists of their nuclear installations and facilities as also one listing the names of their nationals in each others' jails.

The list of nuclear installations and facilities is simultaneously exchanged by both countries on Jan 1 every year as part of the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations and Facilities.

The agreement, signed Dec 31, 1988, came into force Jan 27, 1991.

This is the 23rd consecutive exchange of such lists between the two countries, the first one having taken place Jan 1, 1992.

Both sides also exchanged the list of nationals lodged in others' jails, as part of the Agreement on Consular Access between India and Pakistan.

This agreement was signed May 21, 2008 and is exchanged twice each year - Jan 1 and July 1.

Pakistan officially handed over its list of nuclear installations and facilities to a representative of the Indian High Commission at the Foreign Office in Islamabad.

The Indian ministry of external affairs also handed over its list to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, said a Pakistan High Commission statement.
