India lost precious territories to China, Pakistan due to wrong policies of UPA: Rajnath Singh
Srinagar, Nov 21: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that China has illegally occupied Aksai, Chin and that repeated incursions by Chinese troops into its territory "do not augur well" for maintaining cordial bilateral ties.
"India
wants
good
relations
with
its
neighbours,
but
this
should
be
reciprocated
by
its
neighbours,"
Singh
said.
Addressing
a
rally
in
Leh,
Singh
said
Ladakh
and
J&K
are
very
close
to
the
BJP's
heart
and
the
party
wanted
evenly
balanced
development
of
all
these
regions.
"We in the BJP consider Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh extremely close to our hearts," he said.
He said Pakistan "gifted away" Aksai Chin area to China and the previous National Conference-led state Government never cared, as for it and the UPA government Ladakh was nothing more than a "cold desert". China never shared its boundary in Jammu and Kashmir with India at the time of independence of the country and because of the wrong policies of Congress government the country has become India's neighbour, he said, adding that Tibet acted as a ‘buffer state' between the two nations.
Rajnath Singh was in Leh to address a rally for BJP candidate Chering Dorzey. Elections for this Assembly constituency will be held in the first phase on November 25.
"The Congress lost Tibet, that acted as a ‘buffer state', to China, and Pakistan handed over Aksai Chin to China," he said.
Home Minister also said that several development schemes could not be implemented in the region due to Article 370.
