In Akhilesh's UP, Muslim ABVP candidate threatened to withdraw from college polls
As per TOI report, the Muslim candidate, Nighat said, "A supporter of SCS (Samajvadi Chhatra Sabha), Nida Khatoon, contacted me and told me some things I would rather not repeat. She asked how, despite being a Muslim, I could contest with help from the ABVP, the student wing of the BJP, heavily influenced by the RSS. She asked if I had forgotten that the man who is now prime minister had presided over Gujarat at a time when so many Muslims were massacred."
"I could not backstab ABVP when they needed me. I have so many friends in the organization and they had faith in my abilities. How could I leave them," she further said.
Nighat also said that she also received threat calls which saying that the consequences would be hard to bear, if she contested from ABVP.
Nighat was also asked to join SCS, but she denied to do so and also complained about the threat calls to the college grievance cell. Despite her complaint, no action was taken by the concerned authorities.
According to the students of the college, Nighat, is not only one of the most popular students in the college, but is also a very good and powerful orator. If she contests in the elections, no one else would stand a chance to win.
