IM operative flees from court
Mumbai, Sept 20: Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Afzal Usmani fled the Mumbai sessions court when he was being produced there by the Mumbai Police.

A suspect in the 2008 Ahmedabad and Surat bomb blast cases, Usmani is alleged to have attempted escaping from the Crime Branch also. According to sources, he had acquired the skill set of stealing cars to be used as bombs by Indian Mujahideen in public places.

Usmani fled at the time of being produced in the court by the Mumbai police.

Expert suggest conspiracy behind the entire episode accusing the inherent corruption within the system and the lackadaisical attitude of the police while transporting hard-core criminals to courts. One of them mentioned that earlier convicts were tied with ropes or handcuffed while being produced to court, but these days things are different as none of these are used anymore.

However, it is still doubtful how he fled as running away from the court in broad daylight that too with the presence of the police around is close to impossible, unless there are internal sources working.
