If not me then someone else: Alleged ISIS man tells NIA

Mumbai, Maharashtra: Muddabir Mushtaq, a Mumbai-based youth who according to the National Investigation Agency ran the ISIS show in India has shown no signs of remorse during his questioning.

While the NIA has managed to nab an important person, Mushtaq clearly says during his interrogation that his arrest will make no difference to the outfit. If not me someone else, the reach of the outfit is far and wide, he told the NIA officials in clear terms.


Mushtaq goes on to say that while recruiting youth, he made sure that none of them had any respect for the Indian Constitution. We believe in establishing the Caliphate in India as well and for this we cannot follow the law of the land, he also told the NIA.

If not me someone else:

Mushtaq was arrested last week by the NIA and has been remanded till January 30. He is being questioned by various agencies including the Intelligence Bureau. He says that he was in charge of recruitments, but also adds that he is a very small fry.

There are many in India who will come forward and join the ISIS. If not me then someone else, he told his interrogators.Further Mushtaq also says that people are not joining the ISIS for money. They come voluntarily as only the ISIS can protect Islam, he further stated.

NIA officials tell OneIndia that he showed no signs of remorse. It has been four days since we have been questioning him, but he goes on saying that he has done no wrong.

NIA officials however added that he has not been too forthcoming on information regarding his other associates and also the money trail. The NIA had recovered Rs 2.37 lakh from his account. In all there was a transaction of Rs 6 lakh made to his account, but the rest of the money had been used up by him.
