IAS officers to adopt families of martyred jawans
The officers will not provide any direct financial assistance to the adopted family, but are expected to support.
In a unique initiative, Indian Administrative Service officers will adopt families of the martyred soldiers, who lost their lives in an attack by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma. The All India IAS Officers' Association has also requested the state associations to follow the same.
The officers will oversee whether all the dues of the martyred soldier has been paid to the dependents. It will also ensure that the children of the martyred soldier continue to get good education.
The officers will oversee whether the support pledged by the state or local governments have been provided to the family concerned.
The officers will also see whether any benefits can be provided to them based on various schemes being run by the government like Skill India, Start-up India, Digital India etc.
However, the officers will not provide any direct financial assistance to the adopted family, but are expected to support so that these families live with a sense of security.
