IAS officer DK Ravi's death: CID IG transferred, officers demand CBI probe

Bengaluru, March 18: Even as the government of Karnataka transferred Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Inspector General of Police Pronob Mohanty who was in charge of the D K Ravi case, four IAS officers from the state have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a CBI probe into the incident.

The government today transferred Mohanty from the CID to the Lokayukta. This has raised many eye brows as the case pertaining to the death of D K Ravi was being handled by the CID.

Transfer timing questioned:

The opposition has cried foul and questioned the logic of the transfer just when the CID began the probe into the death ‎of Ravi.

It does not gel well in the current scenario and raises doubts opposition leaders said.

However, sources in the Karnataka Home Ministry informed oneindia that the transfer has nothing to do with the case.

He himself had asked for the transfer and hence the government obliged is what the source informed.

Four IAS officers demand CBI probe:

Meanwhile, four IAS officers have demanded ‎a CBI probe into the issue. The officers wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention into the matter.

They have stated that the investigation must be handed over to the CBI. The officers who wrote the letters are Pankaj Kumar, Rashmi Mahesh, Madan Gopal and Harsh Gupta.
