IAS officer's death: Come with proof, says Karnataka home minister

Bengaluru, March 18: The BJP has decided to take on the Home Minister of Karnataka K George in connection with the death of IAS officer, D K Ravi. The BJP has been alleging that Ravi had raided the premises of the Home Minister and due to this he had many enemies.

George, however, stated that the allegations are rubbish. He challenged the opposition to bring proof before him. If there is proof that he had raided my residence, I shall accept their demand, he said.

Sadananda Gowda assures to take up issue:

Meanwhile Union Law Minister, Sadananda Gowda has assured that he would take up the issue with the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh.

Gowda said that he would meet with Singh and demand a CBI probe into the death of Ravi. Gowda said that there is a great deal of suspicion in the minds of the people and in order to clarify their doubts, a CBI probe must be initiated.

The Union Government had however stated that the matter ought to be handled by Karnataka. However if further issues crop up the matter will be looked into the Union Government had said yesterday.

State government adamant:

The state government meanwhile has stated clearly that there shall be no CBI probe. It will demoralize our officers, the government said while replying to demands of a CBI probe by the opposition.

The Police Department or CID of the state police is capable" of handling investigation in the case. There is no need for the CBI inquiry, the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said.
