New Delhi, May 21: A day after #ModiInsultsIndia was trending on Twitter, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who visited Amethi, took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was 'a proud Indian like everyone else.'
On his last day in Amethi, where he was seen interacting with the farmers in the region and then hit out that Modi. "I am a proud Indian like everyone else. All of us are proud Indians," he said.
Narendra Modi's statement during his recent three-nation tour that 'Indians were ashamed of being born in the country before his government has not gone down well with the people and thus, the hashtag #ModiInsultsIndia is trending on the microblogging website.
Congress said that saying it was unbecoming of the prime minister to criticise the previous government on foreign soil [Sachin Pilot slams PM Modi's 'ashamed to be born in India' remark].
Rahul Gandhi had on Wednesdayalleged that the Modi government was trying get back at him by creating hurdles in implementation of development schemes in his constituency and was hurting the interests of farmers and the poor with its actions.
He said that the"suit-boot ki" government was only for a few industrialists and not for the poor.
