Hyderabad: Suicide or Murder! Techie's wife found dead

Hyderabad, Nov 28: A 28-year-old woman has been found dead under suspicious circumstances in her house in Hyderabad. The deceased has been identified as J Prasanna, wife of A Mohan Reddy, a software engineer.

Though Prasanna's husband and in-laws claimed that she committed suicide, her parents and relatives asserted that she was killed for dowry.

Prasanna's parents accused Mohan of strangulating Prasanna to death. They also claimed that Mohan and her mother used to harass Prasanna for more dowry.

Prasanna, who too was a software engineer but left job after marriage, tied nuptial knots with Mohan two years back. The couple have a daughter.

It has been reported that the deceased was forced to leave her house recently as she could not tolerate the harassment. However, she returned to her home when elders intervened.

Police suspected it to be a case of suicide. Cops, however, booked a case against Mohan for dowry death and has taken him in custody.

The couple reportedly had a nasty fight on Thursday. Speaking about their investigation, senior police official said, "His mother had visited them few days ago. She and Prasanna had got into some quarrel, following which Mohan dropped his mother back to her house."

"Later, he started a fight with Prasanna and we suspect it was a physical assault. She must have then hanged herself," added the official.
