AIADMK interim general secretary Sasikala Natarajan who was once upon a time the chief minister-in-waiting is currently in jail after being convicted of corruption in the famous disproportionate assets case. The jail authorities say that most of her demands such as an attached bathroom, a cot and home-cooked food had been denied.

However, for the politician that she claims she is, the most important demand of hers was to meet with party workers. Despite the rules stating that she is allowed only two visitors per month, the norms appear to have been flouted. There have been 19 visitors in 31 days, Right To Information activist, Narasimha Murthy claims.

While her husband, Natarajan meets her often, convict number 9234 has been visited by scores of others, including advocates. The most frequent visitors have been MP Thambiduari, party's deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran and MLAs, Valaramathy, Gokula Indira, C R Saraswathi and several representatives from Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu.

Jail authorities, while responding to Murthy's RTI query had said that the convict prisoners are eligible for interviews once a week. Director General of Prisons H N Satyanarayana Rao said that the visitor rules are not ironclad, and jailor can use his discretion.
