How Sasikala kept tabs on Tamil Nadu from jail
Sasikala meets with her advocates almost every day who keep her updated about the events in her state
As the events unfolded in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, there was one keen spectator who kept a tab on the same from the Bengaluru central jail. Prisoner 9234 Sasikala Natarajan watched the TN trust vote on television from the jail. She had taken special permission to view television which is in the dormitory.
"There is no separate TV given to her. However, she is entitled to make a request to watch it in the common area," prison authorities say. Sasikala keeps a close tab on the activities in Tamil Nadu. She meets with her advocates almost every day who keep her updated about the events in her state. Any message to her party men is also sent through her advocates, sources say.
Meanwhile, Sasikala has not taken up her candle making assignment yet. When she entered jail, she was given a list of jobs that she could take up. She had chosen candle making for which she would have been paid Rs 50 per day.
Officials say that she has not taken up the job as yet, since she is serving a simple imprisonment and hence doing a job within the jail is not compulsory for her.
