Narendra Modi
Bangalore, Sept 18: BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has made an impossible look possible and that too in far-off Assam. According to an Assam-based news report, the ruling Congress and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), known to be a staunch anti-Congress outfit, have decided to come closer for the next Lok Sabha polls.

The announcement of Modi as the prime ministerial candidate and the AIDUF's decision to field candidates from all the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state have made the Congress about a massive polarization of the votes. Hence, the Congress might not have any other option but befriend Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, the iconic AIUDF leader who was a big influence on minorities, religious and linguistic, and also some hilly tribes.

Congress might not have any other option

According to the report, the Congress has already deployed senior politicians like Ahmad Patel and Ghulam Nabi Azad in the field to see that the Congress does not suffer a big blow in the state in the prestige battle.

It will be interesting to see how Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who does not share the best of relation with Ajmal despite the latter's party being a member of the Congress-led United Progress Alliance at the Centre and opposes him as a political strategy to keep the Assamese Hindu votes in his favour, reacts to the compelling situation created by Modi's elevation on the national stage.
