A Bengaluru NRI businessman helped TTV Dinakaran transfer Rs 2 crore to 'persons' in Delhi. Details of how the transaction took place have been recorded by the Delhi crime branch police in the case diary of the AIADMK symbol bribery row. V C Prakash, an office bearer of Karnataka NRI forum and an aide of former Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwar, in his statement has confessed that money was routed from TTV Dinakaran to 'someone in Delhi'.

A Bengaluru NRI businessman helped TTV Dinakaran transfer Rs 2 crore to 'persons' in Delhi. Details of how the transaction took place have been recorded by the Delhi crime branch police in the case diary of the AIADMK symbol bribery row.

In his statement to the Delhi police, V C Prakash has claimed that he knew Mallikarjuna, TTV Dinakaran's aide who was also arrested in the Election Commission bribery case. Prakash said that he fostered good relations with Mallikarjuna to better business prospects. He added that he even helped TTV Dinakaran meet Sasikala Natarajan in the Bengaluru Central Prison.

Prakash in his statement said that on April 14, 2017, he received a call from Mallikarjuna. Since it was a missed call, Prakash called Mallikarjuna back via WhatsApp calling. "Mallikarjuna told me that there was an emergency for him in Delhi. He asked me if I knew anyone who could help in transferring Rs 2 crore to Delhi from Chennai," Prakash's statement reads. He then confesses about contacting another friend Najimudeen and asking him to arrange for the money to be sent to Delhi. "He said that the transfer can be arranged but requested to call in the morning," he added.

Mallikarjuna is said to have called Prakash again on April 15, 2017, to check the status of transfer after Prakash called the friend he had contacted previously. Sabitha, the personal assistant of Najimudeen coordinated with Prakash. "I called Sabitha via WhatsApp and explained that one of my friend from Chennai wanted to send some funds from Chennai to Delhi urgently and requested her to help him. She gave the number of Daniel and stated that he would help," Prakash told the Delhi police.

Prakash contacted Daniel and connected him to Mallikarjuna. At 1.30 PM on that day Prakash called Daniel to confirm if he had received the money. At around 4.30 PM Prakash said that he called Sabitha to let her know that only Rs 1 crore had been transferred and that Mallikarjuna was frantic about the money not reaching the people in Delhi. Prakash was then given the mobile number of another person, Faisal to coordinate the transaction. Finally at around 9.30 PM on April 15, 2017, Prakash received confirmation that the money had been successfully transferred.

Prakash claimed that he realised that the money he facilitated belonged to TTV Dinakaran only through media reports. His statement explaining the money trail was recorded before the Delhi crime branch police on May 4, 2017.
