There were three mysterious women who were spotted at the Burkapal Central Reserve Police Force camp minutes before the brutal Naxal attack took place in which 25 CRPF jawans were killed. Barely a few minutes after the jawans left the camp, a woman in a red saree arrived. She looked around and left.

Manoj Kumar, a doctor who works at the camp recollected never seeing the lady before. He treats all the villagers in the area and would have known the lady. However, he was seeing her for the first time. When he asked some of the villagers about her, they said that she was new to the village.

A few minutes before the attack, two women were spotted atop a tree counting mangoes. The women then started beating two sticks which was a signal to the Naxals that the security forces were around the area.

In a matter of minutes after the two ladies gave the signal, the attack began. Naxals were perched on trees and hiding in houses. They first fired from a different direction to create a distraction. Then they came in large numbers from an opposite direction and began the ambush. The backup force was unable to rescue most of their colleagues who were having lunch.

There are a total of 99 jawans in the 74 batallion. Most of them had left to sanitise the construction site where road work was going on. This reduced the force at the camp by a large number. The two women perched atop the tree were able to pass on the signal, following which the attack was launched.
