Hindu Mahasabha dress-code diktat for women, a litmus test for Khattar?
Haryana is already ridden with Khap courts and is battling their decrees against women's lifestyle. While they are being debated in Human Rights agencies, it is a greater test for the newly appointed chief minister. Just one day old in office, it is to be seen whether the state can get rid of its image of holding laws against women every now and then.
Meanwhile, a senior member of the khap said,"if women dress up skimpily, men will be attracted and mistakes may happen. It is better to look into the way you dress up. Rapes will not decrease if you wear such clothes. So, wear decent clothes."
He also called upon the parents of women and asked them to check the usage of mobile phones by their daughters. Similar diktat have been imposed on the women here in the past, but women pin their hopes on the new government for a free and fair society.
