Beas
Mandi, June 9: The incident of 24 students being swept away by flash floods in Beas was first reported in the late hours of Saturday. Since then, there was no news of them until 5 bodies were recovered by the rescuers.

While there are reports that the volume of water is creating hindrances in the rescue operations, the SSB teams are doing their best to recover as many bodies as possible.

Meanwhile, HRD minister Smriti Irani informed that the locals complained of lack of security sirens for the primary and the secondary school children before the dam water is released. "I cannot comment on the facts before the investigations. I request the government of Himachal Pradesh that they address the issues of the local people in a speedy manner. I offer condolences to the families of the deceased."

A local resident confirmed saying,"there was no hooter when the incident happened. I was in the market and we get to hear the hooter when the dam water is released."
