Shimla, August 16: The state electricity board of Himachal Pradesh has electrifed 17 out of 28 villages allotted to the board by the Centre under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna, the Tribune reported.
The power ministry had assigned the target of electrifying the said number of villages under the scheme by September.
PC Negi, managing director of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited, said electricity had reached 17 of those villages by August and was confident that the remaining ones would also be covered soon, the report added.
Negi said the ministry had launched the scheme for the electrification of rural households in December 2014. He said the project aimed at providing regular water supply to agriculture consumers and steady power supply to non-agriculture consumers in rural areas, the Tribune report said.
