New Delhi, Nov 27: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh for questioning in connection with the disproportionate assets case.
The ED wants to question Singh with regard to some of the financial transactions which led to the filing of the case in the first place.
Singh will now have to respond to the ED once the summons reach him. ED officials along with the Central Bureau of Investigation have been probing the case against Singh. Two months back the CBI had raided the house of Singh in connection with the case.
Singh had moved the High Court against the proceedings. The CBI too moved the Supreme Court seeking to arrest Singh. It also sought before the Supreme Court to transfer the case out of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The case is currently being heard by the Delhi High Court based on the CBI's request.
On September 26th, a team of officials from both the CBI and the ED conducted a raid on the residence of Singh, while he was away attending his daughter's marriage.
The investigators had alleged irregularities in financial transactions by Singh and his family members. His secretary too is being probed in this case.
