HC asks UP govt to list steps taken to curb illegal mining
Lucknow, Nov 7: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed Uttar Pradesh government to file a reply explaining what steps have been taken to curb illegal mining activities in the 38 districts of the state.
A division bench of chief justice D Y Chandrachud and justice S N Shukla gave the order on a PIL filed by a local journalist seeking directions for banning of illegal mining. The petitioner J N Shukla alleged that illegal mining activities are on in the 38 districts, including Lucknow, Allahabad, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Jhansi, Sonbhadra, Hamirpur, Jalaun and Banda etc.
The HC, while listing the PIL on November 26, also directed the petitioner to produce the entire report of CAG dated 31 March, 2014 before it on the next date of listing of the matter.
