Hate crime in Bengaluru: Another 25-year old boy from Manipur beaten by drunken goons
Bengaluru, Nov 20: 25 year old Samuel was walking down to his home late last night when he was gheraoed by three drunken goons and beaten mercilessly. As per Samuel, the men called him names and started beating him for trying to rescue his friend whom they were harassing in Kothanur area. The incident happened when the three men passed lewd comments on the girl and the youth who was passing by confronted them for their misbehaviour last night, police said.
As the trio persisted with their misbehaviour, the 21-year-old youth, an undergraduate student at a city college, warned them against it, following which they allegedly assaulted him, police said. The youth, who suffered head injuries, was taken to a hospital by the passersby.

He was later admitted to Avheita hospital. Police has registered a case and that the culprits will be nabbed soon.
Just last month, there were multiple cases of North East Indians being attacked by locals at various part of the city. On Oct 15, a 26-year old engineering student was beaten by a group of men who reportedly abused and then attacked him for not speaking in Kannada. All the three accused were cab drivers. T Michael Lamjathang Haokip was asked to speak in Kannada as he was living in Karnataka and eating Kannada food. When he did not pay any heed to their demands, he was pelted with stones. He sustained injuries on his head and back.
In a separate case, a PhD Scholar from TISS, Zingram Kengoo (also from Manipur) was found murdered at his residence in Kotla, New Delhi.
