Adampur has so far been a stronghold of former chief minister and Haryana Janhit Congress founder late Bhajan Lal and after his demise in 2011 his daughter-in-law Renuka, Kuldeep's wife, became MLA from here. But this time she is contesting from Hansi assembly seat.
Earlier, the contest here used to be in between INLD-HJC. But the BJP , by fielding a backward candidate, has made this seat a prestige issue for the HJC.
One of the main reasons why the BJP took this decision because Bishnoi, who lost from Hissar to INLD's Dushyant Chautala in the Lok Sabha polls, has decided to contest from here to regain his lost grounds. The BJP feels that Bishnoi no more enjoys the confidence of his own people and has therefore fielded a backward class leader like Ranauliya to dent his vote bank.
Kulbir Singh Beniwal, a Congress deserter, has been fielded by INLD from Adampur seat. But many INLD workers are unhappy with the decision. While the Congress gave ticket to Satendra Singh, another one-time close confidante of Bishnoi.
The BJP hopes that the fight between HJC, Congress and INLD will help its candidate win Adampur assembly, having a population of just 1.43 lakh.
Hence, it will be interesting to see whether voters of Adampur will show their faith and go with Bishnoi or cast votes in favour of tainted Om Prakash Chautala's party or go with the Modi wave.
