Haryana health department pledges support to girl child

Chandigarh, Jan 16: As many as 32,000 health workers today participated in a mass campaign organised by Haryana health department against female foeticide and took a pledge to save the girl child.

A mass campaign in the form of a pledge ceremony was undertaken by Haryana government at several places in the state, aimed to change the mindset of people towards girl child and curbing female foeticide practice, an official spokesperson said.

Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA), medical and para-medical staff of primary health centres, community health centres, workers at sub-divisional, district hospitals and private ultra sinologists of Haryana participated in the ceremony, he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 'Beti Bacho Beti Padhao' scheme in the 12 districts of Haryana having low sex-ratio on January 22 at Panipat, spokesman said, adding that campaigns are already being carried out to promote the scheme in Haryana.
