Haryana Assembly election: Zee owner Subhash Chandra booked for misconduct

Haryana, Oct 18: An FIR has been registered against Subhash Chandra, the chairman of Essel Group in Hisar Civil Lines police station in Haryana.

As per an India Today report, "He has been booked under Representation of the People Act for allegedly entering two polling booths located in the industrial area of Hisar during the recently conducted Haryana Assembly elections on Wednesday."

The report further says, FIR has been registered under section 154 CRPC, section 131 and 132 of the Representation of the People Act 1951 for disorderly conduct in or near polling station and misconduct at the polling stations on Thursday evening.

Rajan Chandana, an Independent candidate and Savitri Jindal, a Congress candidate sent compliants to returning officer Kushal Kataria. On the basis of a complaint filed by the returning officer, the FIR was registered.

Rajan Chandana, who is one of the complainant has also submitted a video footage of the entire episode which shows the misconduct of Subhash Chandra.

"Chandra and four others (unidentified) violated the model code of conduct and forcibly entered polling stations 114 and 115, where he checked the identity cards of voters and the polling staff which was not permissible and for which he had no such authority," the FIR said.

Results for Assembly election in Haryana will be announced on October 19.
