Surat, Sept 19: Patidar Ananmat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener Hardik Patel and 78 others have been detained after they violated the court's order that prohibited them from going ahead with a non-violent rally that they had announced yesterday.
On Friday, the group had announced that they would hold a non-violent rally today.
Hardik Patel had said,"We spoke to the Gujarat Government about the police atrocities and they promised us a solution in ten days.
There has been no suspension yet. So, we will hold a protest rally tomorrow but with a twist. The protest rally would be non-violent. We will make sure no one incurs any loss because of the rally. But the rally would be without any permission."
Patel had further said that they would be holding rallies in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Haryana. Having said that, he also made it clear that the rally in Bihar would be held for the Patel community and not for any political party.
Patel had earlier met with former chief minister and important Patidar leader Keshubhai Patel before meeting with Chief Minister Anandiben Patel over alleged [olice atrocity on the Patel community.
