Singh, described by his colleagues as a dedicated and spirited young officer, was part of 4 Rashtriya Rifles. On August 6, 1999, Singh made the supreme sacrifice while fighting militants. The midnight attack took place in the Chak Nutnusa village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.
Singh was the commander of the company and the took the fight to the militants. Seven other personnel were martyred in the militant attack that took place at 1.15 am of that night. The militants were however beaten and the Yatra was defended. Singh, who led the company received a bullet injury and was declared dead on the spot.
Gurmeha had created a storm with her post in which she said,"War killed her father, not Pakistan." She also posted that she is not scared of the ABVP and every student in India supports her. The post came following the ruckus at the DU last week.
