Gul Panag suggests Kirron Kher to be the FTII head
Bengaluru, July 14: FTII students protesting over the appointment of incumbent chairman Gajendra Chauhan has triggered a huge controversy, since past one month.
On Monday, Tuesday, July 13, AAP leader Gul Panag took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to express her concern over the ongoing FTII fiasco. [FTII-Gajendra Chauhan's ugly war: All you need to know about it]
She tweeted, "The FTII row is not showing signs of ending. The industry, cutting across party affiliations, appears united in supporting the students ."
"While it's understandable that #GOI appoint those it wishes (& is comfortable with) to head institutions; merit should matter, no?"
"Surely there are meritorious individuals (with #BJP affiliations) that #GOI can find to head #FTII ? @KirronKherBJP for instance?, she said.
"Agree with Ranbir, #FTII students deserve a head, who is someone they can look up to & is aspirational for them. (Maybe even an alumni?)", she further tweeted.
"Surely
'larger
public
good' is
served
by
having
said
institution
headed
by
an
individual
with
merit?
And
shouldn't
there
be
an
institutionalised
mechanism
for
selection,
instead
of
this
arbitrary
executive
decision
?",
she
tweeted.
During last year's Lok Sabha elections, Gul Panag and Kirron Kher were pitted against each other from Chandigarh. Kher from the BJP witnessed a huge victory for herself and became the BJP MP.
