New Delhi, Oct 28: In the small lanes of Chandini Chown in Delhi lies a major network of touts who steal identities. This group of touts will get you an identification at a small price. Money speaks here and if you are on the look out for a fake identification then money is all that it takes to get the job done.
This network of touts came under the scanner of Mehmood Akthar, the staffer in the Pakistan High Commission at New Delhi. He was detained, released due to diplomatic immunity on Thursday. Akthar who was running a spying ring was declared persona non grata.
When the Delhi police reached his door step following a six month long investigation along with the Intelligence Bureau, Akthar flashed his Aadhar card. He said his name was Mehboob Rajput. The address on his card read, 2350, Gali Near Madari, Rodgran Mohalla, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi 110006.
However the Delhi police was already aware that this was the man they were looking for. Minutes after the details of the Aadhar card were made known, media and police personnel were at the address. They were received by a set of very surprised and shocked set of persons.
Investigations have shown that Akthar was in touch with one of the touts. He had sought an Aadhar card which was given to him in a few hours time. Touts have a data base and they randomnly issue cards by using these addresses. They charge anything between Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 per card.
A similar network operates in Jammu and Kashmir as well. Recently five terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad were arrested. They too flashed Aadhar Cards and investigations showed that these cards were fake.
