New Delhi, Jul 27: Government today said no subsidy is being provided for export of cow meat. "No," Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha to a question whether any subsidy is being provided for export of cow meat.

"As per the existing foreign trade policy, export of beef (meat of cows, oxen and calf) is prohibited and not permitted to export," she said. Replying to a separate query, she said the government has so far recognised 180 applicants who had submitted required documents as per the definition of a start-up.
