New Delhi, Feb 23: President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday said that the fundamental tenet of the government is development of all.

'Govt's tenet is Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas'
Addressing the members of two houses of Parliament at the start of budget session, Mukherjee said that the government had taken several initiatives including smart cities, skill development, ease of doing business and tapping the country's demographic dividend.

"The fundamental tenet (of government) is 'sab ka saath, sab ka vikas' (taking everyone along, development of all)," he said.

Prime Minster Narendra Modi said the government would try that all important issues are discussed in the budget session of Parliament that began today.

"I had a meeting with the leaders of allies yesterday (Sunday) and listened to their views. We will try that every important issue in the budget session is discussed," Modi told reporters ahead of the budget session.

"Budget session is an important opportunity for every government as well as for the country," he added.
