The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Thursday announced a proposal for group housing and housing for senior citizens in the capital. Two proposals were presented on Thursday during the authority meeting of the urban body.
"Considering the huge demand for housing in Delhi and also the directions of MOUD to provide one million dwelling units by 2022, group housing through developers had been proposed in the Authority meeting", DDA said in press statement.
As per the first proposal, total land of 214.09 hectares is available in Sector 40 and 41 in Rohini out of which 131.62 hectares is for residential land use.
"This area is bound by heavily built-up area and prone to encroachments and thus needs to be developed fast. It had been envisaged in the proposal that the residential area available be subdivided into modules of approximately 5 hectares each and e-auctioned to the developers to be developed as group housing," the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) said in a statement.
As per DDA, the second proposal was for sectors 40 and 41, where the permit was to construct and operate single room studio apartments for senior citizens. These apartments will be constructed through PPP mode.
"These complexes will have facilities such as common kitchen, medical facilities, common rooms, reading rooms, library, offices, gym, among others. These will be allotted to eligible persons on a rental basis. After which it would be allotted to the next person on the waiting list," the statement said.
