Goa elections: EC notice to Parrikar; explain bribe remarks by Feb 3
Whilst campaigning in Goa, Parrikar had asked voters to take money from other candidates but vote only for the BJP
The Election Commission on Wednesday issued a notice to Union Defence Minster Manohar Parrikar over his bribe remarks. Parrikar has been asked to reply to the notice before February 3. The notice comes two days after a political party in Goa filed a complaint against him and the Aam Aadmi Party sought action.
The Goa Forward Party filed a complaint against Parrikar with the chief election office of Goa on Monday. The party attached a video clipping of the minister asking people to accept bribes but vote for Bharatiya Janata Party in Chimbel area. Parrikar while addressing a gathering on Sunday had said, " I understand if someone organises a rally and you take Rs 500 for moving around with the candidate. That is not a problem but when you vote, choose the lotus."
AAP's Chief Arvind Kejriwal faced strict reprimanding from the election commission for similar statements encouraging bribe during his campaigns in Goa for the upcoming assembly polls.
