India.
She
landed
here
on
Sunday
night.
On
her
arrival,
Prime
Minister
Narendra
Modi
tweeted
"Namaste
Chancellor
Merkel!
Warm
welcome
to
you
&
the
delegation.
I
look
forward
to
fruitful
discussions
&
strengthening
India-Germany
ties."
A delegation of six cabinet ministers, and businesspersons have also accompanied her for the visit. The delegation will also be visiting Bengaluru. PM Modi will also travel to Bengaluru.
Talks between visiting Chancellor and PM Modi is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru. They are likely to discuss issues like trade, investment and increased bilateral cooperation in a number of developmental projects in diverse fields are expected to be discussed intensively.
Merkel will co-chair along with PM Modi the 3rd Indo-German Intergovernmental Consultations. on Monday. Significantly, Germany is the only country with which India conducts these bi-annual joint cabinet meetings.

The first Indo-German Intergovernmental Consultations took place in India in 2011.
Germany is India's largest trading partner in Europe, with bilateral trade in 2014 valued at 15.96 billion euros. Merkel last visited India in 2011 and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Germany in April this year.
